How to Identify Genuine Leather?
A few years ago, we could identify leather products by their price. However, over time, things have changed, and although the prices of accessories and handbags are still high, most of them have nothing to do with genuine leather but are made from faux leather. How can we avoid being deceived? How can we recognize real leather? Below are a few tips that can help!
Smell
You can recognize genuine leather by its distinctive smell, which synthetic materials lack. Sometimes it is very intense, in other cases less so, but it is always present.
Texture
If you have trouble identifying the material, you can always check the texture. Genuine leather is not perfect. Its surface shows unevenly distributed pores and wrinkles. Moreover, genuine leather is warm and pleasant to the touch, but slightly harder and thicker than faux leather.
Labeling
It’s also important to remember that leather products often have labels indicating "real leather" or "100% leather," and they may also include a piece of leather in the shape of a characteristic symbol, often attached to the products.
